Walmart-owned Flipkart has deployed 100 Goods-to-Person robots which are also known as Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in one of its delivery hubs in the outskirts of Bangalore. Robots navigate in a tightly controlled grid to pick up products from inventory and drop them at desired locations. Flipkart claims that these robots are able to sort nearly 4,500 packages per hour which are around 10 times their earlier manual picking strategy.
Also, as per the latest Mckinsey Consulting Report, Goods-to-Person technology will prove beneficial if your warehouse generates more than 10,000 deliveries a day. The report also adds that supply chains that do not turn into automation by 2022 could be at risk of failure to handle rising costs.

But, what is mobile robot technology?
We have a system of Robots that simply knows how to navigate without collision between any two given points in the warehouse. So, let’s say we assign a Robot Mario start point as location A of a product in inventory and endpoint to a fulfillment station B. Now, Mario would seamlessly first get to location A where the item will be placed on Mario and then move to location B where the item needs to be parked. Congrats Mario, Job well done!
Why switch to Mobile Robots?
- Mobile robots help to increase the sorting efficiency by at least ten times of manual picking while decreasing the margin of error.
- It offers us modularity and flexibility so we can scale up or scale down our operation very easily as per requirement.
- Unlike Conveyors and Sortation systems it does not occupy much space in your warehouse.
India is a potential market for the industrial robotics industry. In recent times with the increase of demand, manufacturing industries want to match the need without compromising the quality. According to the press release news ( htt from 2017rg/ifr-press-releases/news/indias-robot-wonder) there is an increase of 39% of robots sale in 2018 from 2017.
Yet, India is lagging in the manufacturing of autonomous robots, primarily because the costs of hardware parts are very high. Here, Flexli comes into the picture! We at Flexli technologies are currently in the developing phase of our own cost-efficient Mobile Robot technology which can make personalized robots tailored to cater to warehouse specific requirements. We can bring down costs by making modular components just like the game of Lego and then using only bare minimum components as required by the client.
What makes Flexli a strong crusader in pursuit of Autonomous Robot Technology
- Customer First Approach
- Modularity to scale up and down as per requirement
- Value for Money check
As a team, Flexli believes in the concept of collective efforts, so if you are interested in our mission and want to collaborate with us to build sustainable autonomous mobile robots for warehouses, you can contact us. In any case, even if you would like to learn more about our previous research on autonomous mobile robots please feel free to contact us.
